me&you - It's About Time This Morning Ends [2010]

Hailing from Dempseytown, Pennsylvania, 2-man band, me&you, release their 12-minute EP "It's About Time This Morning Ends" and create a sound that's all their own. Consisting of bassist Eddie Crowley and drummer/synth and sample master Ryan Thompson this duo hits a strange mark between eccentric bass lines and out-of-this-world ambiance. Really a neat (did I just say/type "neat?") sound and experience that's worth checking out, plus there's a The Office sample in there, which is awesome. Ryan's a friend of mine so listen up.

Every Time I Die - The Big Dirty [2007]

From what I can remember (the spring of 2009 was oh so long ago), this album was the first vinyl record I ever picked up. I found it hidden among the other records on the rack and knew I had to get it immediately. I didn't even own a record player at that time but this album is just too good to pass up. It's heavy, crunchy guitar lines are smashed into the well-fitting drums while vocalist Keith Buckley yells over top of it all. The pieces of the Every Time I Die puzzle fit together perfectly and create the epitome of southern metal. The guitar lines have a more southern feel than previous releases while still sticking to their hardcore roots. Keith's lyrics are at their prime and solidify him as my favorite lyricist of all time (or at least this decade, I don't have the time to do musical backtracking (well I actually do I just don't really want to)). From "Indiscernible mute in a swarm of derivatives," to "It's better to destroy than to create what is meaningless, so the picture will not be finished," his brilliant witticisms are unmatched. The group also knows how to work with strange time signatures such as the 5/4 in Pigs Is Pigs or the 3x4/4 & 6/4 (if that's how you'd write it out) in INRIhab. Basically, this band is hard, powerful, intelligent, and kickass. Check them out.

Best Concert Ever!

As I expected, the Coheed & Cambria and Circa Survive concert was incredible! To start the night off, me and my friends attended an acoustic performance and signing by Coheed at Graywhale music store. After quite a wait in line, we finally made it into the store and crowded around the stage. Coheed played a three song set, Here We Are Juggernaut, which sounded really cool acoustic, Pearl Of The Stars, and closed with Welcome Home. They sounded great acoustic, and this got me really pumped for the actual concert, which we headed over to after getting some stuff signed.

We got there just before Circa Survive started playing, and pushed up to the front. The band came onto the stage amidst a roar of applause and Anthony announced "We're Circa Survive and this song is called Get Out!" and then started jamming. It was a great opener to their set, which included some songs off their new album like Glass Arrows, Strange Terrain, Through The Desert Alone, and Imaginary Enemy, and some off their older albums like The Glorious Nosebleed, In Fear And Faith, The Great Golden Baby, Stop The Car, Living Together, and In The Morning And Amazing. They have so much energy in their onstage presence, which makes watching them really fun, plus they sound just as boss as they do on their albums, if not better. Anthony Green is a perfect entertainer, with his top notch singing, dancing across the stage, and talking to the crowd, and the entire band really showed off how truly talented they are. I would have enjoyed listening to them for at least twice as long as they played, but unfortunately their set had to end.

Then it was Coheed's turn to rock my face off, and they did just that, starting with One and The Broken. Then they proceded to play many of my favorite songs of theirs, some old some new. Off of Second Stage they played Time Consumer and Everything Evil, off of In Keeping Secrets they played the title track, Three Evils, Al The Killer, A Favor House Atlantic, and 2113, off Good Apollo they played Welcome Home, and off No World For Tomorrow they played the title track, and off Year of the Black Rainbow, they played Here We Are Juggernaut, Pearl of the Stars, Made Out Of Nothing, World of Lines, Guns of Summer, and a beautiful acoustic version of Far. Claudio and his hair did great on the vocals, with backup vocals from the crowd on every song, and all of the band put on a great performance full of mind blowing solos, a great encore, and sounded just as epic, if not more, than they do on their albums. I loved every minute of this concert and eagerly await the return of both bands. If you want to hear the best music you'll ever hear, get their albums and go see them when they come to your area! If not, why are you reading this?

Foxy Shazam - Foxy Shazam [2010] (Uncut, Final, and ULTIMATE Versions)

Foxy Shazam is the most fun you'll ever have listening to music. They're full of dancy excitement and you won't be able to stop listening once you start. This 2010 self titled effort is just another great album to add to the self as it's a perfect progression of their sound. With Flamingo Trigger, they were screamy what-the-hell, the sound turned into Introducing...'s goddamn party rock which evolved into the self-titled big booming, and totally fun, sound which feels like Queen of the 21st century. Overall, a great way for the band to move from point A to point C and so on. The intro song on the record (aptly titled "Intro/Bombs Away") begins with the sound of alleyway dogs barking before Eric Nally (singer) comes in and says "There sure are a lot of dogs out tonight, perhaps they can assist me in a song." which leads the barking into a melody that the rest of the introduction follows. The song flows in the next tune (which makes sense since it is the same track), "Bombs Away." The album keeps up the energy throughout it and only slows at a few points. Since the album leaked very early, it had a rough cut that had multiple extra songs and not full production on most of it. The official version was released later with many songs cut and remastered (15 tracks cut down to 11). So anyways, I made 3 versions of this album available. The uncut version, the final version, and the ULTIMATE mix that I made which contains some of both versions and includes all the extra songs. Feel free to try all of them out.

Genre: Soulful Party Rock
For Fans Of: Queen, and I really don't know who else. Just listen and love.

Rx Bandits - ...And The Battle Begun [2006]

The Rx Bandits are a funny animal. They started off as straight up third-wave ska but over time turned into what I've deemed progressive ska then dropped all brass and are now an experimental group somewhat along the lines of The Mars Volta. They're an amazing group that is truly fueled by love and respect and I love them for sticking to themselves and growing in such an amazing fashion. This album, ...And The Battle Begun is their 5th LP (hot damn!) and it really shows the experience they've gained throughout their years. The songs are full of amazing lyricism and catchy melodies. The guitar work is intricate but still groovy. Really an amazing release and was able to make a musical off year (I see 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, as the "on years") still really good.

Be Like Pablo Music Video

Alright, alright, alright. Time to stop slacking off. I'm gonna slap myself in the face and take a cold shower and I WILL keep this up to date. So to kick off my new found ambition here's the new (ish) music video from UK pop band Be Like Pablo. I know the bassist Jamie from my second (or possibly first) home, Cobalt and Calcium. The dude's a beast and I love him like a cousin that's in a semi-popular band across the seas. Whelp, enjoy.

Coheed And Circa Concert Tonight!!

Ahh! So excited for tonight! Gonna see my two favorite bands, Coheed & Cambria and Circa Survive, play and going to an acoustic Coheed set before the show, so it should be an amazing evening. I would recommend everyone join me at this concert (or go see Coheed and Circa when they come to your area) as it is sure to be epic.
Also, we never posted anything on PPSK about The Fall of Troy concert that Alek and I attended a few weeks ago, so just wanted to give them a shout out and say thanks for the incredible performance and wish them luck with their future projects. We got to meet them and talk to them after and they were the coolest guys!
